Your book possibilities this year

Published 4 months ago • 2 min read

Hey Reader,

Only 2 weeks into January, and 2024 is still a year of possibilities! 🚀 Do any of your dreams involve writing or publishing your book?

While writing a book can be a rewarding experience, it's not always the right time for everyone. Here's what might make your book adventure a wild ride:

Juggling Act 🤹‍♂️:

Got a gazillion things on your plate already? Adding a book might be like adding the last piece of Jenga on a wobbly tower. Creating a book needs focus and some form of consistency.

The publishing and marketing process has a lot moving of pieces and detailed work, which isn’t everyone’s favourite game. If you're feeling like a multitasking pinball machine, maybe press pause and finish up some projects or delay them if you decide now's not the time (or is).

Where’s Waldo? 🤔:

Ever thought about who your book besties are – the people who are already hunting down a book like yours? If not, it's a good idea to figure that out before you dive into writing.

Come to think of it, most decisions authors have to make throughout their writing and publishing process can be simplified by answering, “Who’s my reader?”

Knowing both your One Person and Specific Audience you’re writing for (and having a clear purpose) will be the rudder that steers you through your book adventure shenanigans.

Swedish Fun 🗺️:

Writing or publishing without a plan is like trying to assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions – confusing, a bit frustrating, and not quite what you hoped for. Not only for you but for the people who will be helping you along the way.

Brew a tea and sketch out your book's roadmap. It's like giving yourself GPS so you can enjoy the journey without getting lost in the doubts, details and detours.

Now that I've shared that... I'm curious. If you've been toying with the idea or on a mission to make your book happen this year, what feeling arose as you read this? Hit reply and let me know your word!

A. Envigorated: Of course, I'm going to work on my book this year. Even though my life is full, I already have a plan to include it in my schedule.

B. Content: Yeah, you're right. This isn't the year for my book to happen and I'm okay with that.

C. Determined: I can see all the reasons why I shouldn't write a book. But I just can't NOT write/publish my book this year. Somehow I've got to figure out a way to make it happen.

Good news

Remember, writing or publishing a book is like a road trip – you’ll need snacks, good tunes, and a good navigator (or not, if you're feeling adventurous)!

Looking for some guidance on your book mission? Soon I’ll be opening 5 coaching spots to authors who have the first rough draft of a manuscript they want to self-publish in 2024. (More about that soon.)

In the meantime, if book progress is stirring you and you're considering who to enlist for support, let's get on a clarity call. I’d love to get to know your heart for your book.

Cheering you on,

Emily
