Hello Reader,
Have you felt vulnerable in your leadership or calling path lately? (ie. not enough, unsure, imposter syndrome, launching something new)
During the years I wrote and launched Dare to Decide, many times I found myself faced with a challenge familiar to any new coach, leader or influencer when it's time to step out with their message: vulnerability.
Most of my 20s I spent feeling insecure and powerless. These were familiar feelings. I didn't realize until much later that I held a victim mindset that was keeping me stuck.
Writing some parts of the book took me back to the year my first husband left our marriage. (That was the morning I wished I had brought Kleenex to my writing session at the coffee shop!)
It revived a flood of memories of feeling unprepared to handle the emotional turmoil and rejection.
Yet, that was one of the most empowering seasons of my life spiritually, emotionally and mentally. I leaned into my pain and imperfections. I let God guide my healing path.
Because I pressed through those hard times, I had more resilience to face awkwardness and scariness of stepping into new experiences later on.
You can do hard things.
You can learn new things.
You know this because you've already done them. And so much pressure is relieved when you realize you don't have to look like you have it all together when you do these things.
Be real.
Be the confident you and the vulnerable you.
And as you share your gifts and message with this confidence and vulnerability, it's going to resonate with those who are ready for it. After some practice, you will feel less vulnerable and more confident...and still be making an impact.
Your turn:
What area of being a leader, an author in your sphere of influence have you been feeling both vulnerable and confident in lately? Hit reply--I'd love to hear your musings.
